Hide sensitive event titles when exporting a timesheet
Redacting in Excel after export is how names slip through. Privacy mode decides what text is allowed to exist in the file at all—before you are tired enough to skip a cell.

Hours for someone who should not see the words
You need hours for a partner, client, or accountant. Your calendar titles include people and topics they should not see, and the deadline is in forty minutes.
Post-export redaction fails under fatigue
People treat titles as harmless metadata. Recipients treat them as content—and search boxes make that content trivial to find later.
Choose the mode before the file exists
In Calendar2XL, pick original, “Work,” or daily-totals-only, confirm preview, then export. Do not plan to “clean it in Sheets.”
Privacy in three decisions
Name the recipient and what they need
Hours only? Timeline without names? Full detail? That maps to a mode.
Switch privacy before export
Watch the preview update—do not assume.
Export and open the file yourself
Search for a known sensitive string if you are nervous—then send.
Use a neutral filename
Avoid embedding identity in the attachment name.
Three modes, three intents
Original titles: full context for you or a trusted reviewer. Replace with “Work”: keep the timeline, drop the words. Daily totals only: keep the load pattern, drop the event list.
There is no fourth mode called “I’ll clean it later” that actually works under time pressure. Later is when the file is already forwarded.
Preview is the confidentiality checkpoint
If the preview still shows a name, stop. Change mode. Do not export “and fix it.” The share sheet is too easy to hit when you are tired and late.
Format does not equal safety
CSV is not safer than XLSX. Screenshots are not safer than either if they show titles. Content policy beats file type every time someone tries to invent a shortcut.
A self-test that takes ten seconds
After export, search the file for a sensitive string you know should be gone. Search the filename too. If either hits, you are not done. Boring tests survive busy days better than clever processes.
Content policy beats file type
- Privacy is a pre-export decision.
- Daily totals only is the strongest minimization.
- Preview exists to catch mistakes before share.
- File format is not a privacy control.
Questions people ask
What privacy options does Calendar2XL offer for titles?
Original titles, replace every title with “Work,” or daily totals only with no event-level rows. Preview reflects the choice.
Does replace-with-Work keep durations?
Yes. Dates and durations remain so the file still works as an hours log.
When should I choose daily totals only?
When the recipient needs day-level load without any event list—common for sensitive calendars and coarse capacity reporting.
